How do you interest kids in algorithms, debugging, and binary notation? Start with this poster and invite kids to “get with the program” and “learn to code”! Next, introduce them to Secret Coders. The Secret Coders series centers around new friends Hopper, Eni, and Josh—plus a robot turtle named “Little Guy”—and combines logic puzzles and basic programming instruction with a page-turning mystery that teaches the fundamentals of computer science. Secret Coders is written by Gene Luen Yang, a former high school computer programming teacher (not to mention National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature and Printz Medal-winner) and illustrated by Mike Holmes. Special thanks to Mike Holmes for his original illustration, Gene Luen Yang, and First Second Books.
