This Nebraska-born actress moved to Los Angeles at the young age of 16 to pursue her dream of acting, and her hard work and dedication have paid off. In the film Freedom Writers Swank plays a teacher who inspires at-risk students to learn tolerance, apply themselves, and pursue their education. She is best known for her Oscar-winning roles in the films Boys Don’t Cry and Million Dollar Baby.
