Deborah J. Karpuk

Deborah J. Karpuk, Ph.D. has recently retired as Associate Professor, School of Library andInformation Science, San Jose State University. "Dr. K" currently heads a firm working withprivate and public sector agencies on information organization and management challenges.Her instructional focus included cataloging, classification, serial publications, library technical services, knowledge structures and the management of library and information centers. Prior to joining the faculty at San Jose State University, she taught full-time for the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, and has taught as adjunct faculty for Syracuse University, University of Arizona, University of North Texas, and Texas Woman's University. She has taught in traditional classrooms, 100-percent Web-based instruction,and in mixed-mode instructional settings. Her professional experience includes: Serials Cataloger (University of Oklahoma Libraries),Coordinator for Technical Services (Arlington Public Library System, Texas), Director (Haltom City Public Library, Texas), and Director, Personnel and Information Services (City of Haltom City, Texas).
