Multicultural literacy is instrumental in solving our most pressing problems, and must be an essential aspect of early childhood education and youth services programming. This presentation provides guidance on how to incorporate cultural diversity into library storytime programs. Additionally, attendees will be provided with a variety of multimedia resources to guide them through the process of high-quality material selection.
- Understand and be able to articulate the urgency of and need for incorporating multicultural education as part of the library’s early learning programming.
- Be able to employ a series of best practices when designing and delivering multicultural youth library programs.
- Be able to locate and identify contemporary, relevant and age-appropriate resources and materials to be used in planning culturally-inclusive programs.

has been a youth services advocate for over eight years serving in public libraries and most currently as a school media specialist. The focus of her education and career has been centered on multicultural literacy, and bilingual library programming and service.
